Clinical Trials

Atrial Fibrillation

  • ARTISAN-AF: Ths study is an evaluation of the robotic technique versus manual technique for the ablation of atrial fibrillation. The Sensei® X Robotic Catheter System and the Artisan™ Control Catheter is approved in Europe for use during ablation procedures, and this system has been used to treat atrial fibrillation in over 1000 patients worldwide by navigating existing, approved ablation catheters. Click here for more information at the NIH Clinical Trials page. The principal investigator for this study is: Eric J. Rashba, MD.
  • CABANA: The purpose of this study is to examine the critical question of whether catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation saves lives as compared to medical therapy. The study is designed to test the hypothesis that the treatment strategy of left atrial catheter ablation for the purpose of eliminating atrial fibrillation will be superior to current state-of-the-art therapy with either rate control or rhythm control drugs for reducing total mortality in patients with untreated or incompletely treated atrial fibrillation.
